Episode 8: Too Many Voices, Too Little Clarity: Where IT Leaders Find Trust in an AI-Saturated Market

Picture this. You’re about to make a decision that will affect your company for the next decade. You search for answers and get a thousand results. Half of them were written by AI. The rest are vendor blogs, paid summaries, and online reviews you have no way of verifying. So, who do you believe?

That is the question that sits at the heart of this special episode. The online world has never been fuller of content. But more does not necessarily mean more truthful. AI tools can sound very sure of themselves while simply repeating what companies feed them about their own products. And when the decision in front of you is a long-term commitment, “it sounded convincing at the time” won’t impress anyone reviewing that decision later.

The conversation starts close to home, with the Forrester Total Economic Impact™ study devicenow commissioned on its Device as a Service model. devicenow paid for the study, and that’s how this kind of research works: the company pays for the work, while the research firm keeps full control over the results. Jonas explains why that line matters so much and what separates real research from a straight-up marketing tactic. Along the way, he and Christin talk about why the best studies invite readers to check the math with their own numbers.

From there, we turn to AI and how the people making big IT decisions use it in their day-to-day. Jonas has a simple rule: let AI point you to credible sources but never treat it as the source itself. The episode closes with Jonas’ practical checklist for anyone about to sign off on a decision that must hold up for years to come.
